First half of the Season Review for the 1st Team

By Nomads, Jan 1 2019 09:43PM

As we begin 2019, we take a look back at the first half of the season with first team coach Chris Blount.

"It's been quite an eventful season so far and an enjoyable one at that. When Tony (1st team manager) spoke to us in the summer about joining the coaching team at Anstey Nomads, I could see there was a lot of potetial around the place. The pitch was superb, good facilties and lots of great people who make the club run so well. After most of the previous team had left with last season's management, the goal was to put together a team who could secure a top 6 finish.

"Pre-season went well but we seemed to stutter a little at the start of the season. Following that we had quite a good run of results and an exciting FA Cup campaign. The club had never won an FA Cup match before this season so to win three games before exiting to a step 3 team was a huge achievement for everyone.

"The league games have been overall positive but with the team being almot entirely new, we have a lot to learn together before we can reach the level of consistency that we are striving towards.

"We now enter the second half of the season and whilst some are calling us contenders for promotion, we're aiming to secure that top 6 spot first and then we'll see what else we can do from there.

"A Happy New Year to all involved with the club and league."

Nomads are back in action at home on Tuesday 8th January when they host Northampton Sileby Rangers in the united Counties League, Kick off 7.45pm
